NPP constitutes standing and sector committees
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially constituted its Standing and Sector Committees as part of measures to reinforce internal structures, deepen policy formulation, and strengthen the Party’s organisational capacity ahead of future political activities.
The decision was reached by the Party’s National Executive Committee and National Council during a meeting held on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The committees were established in accordance with the provisions of the NPP Constitution governing internal administration.
The Party explained that the Standing Committees were set up under Article 10(2)(6) of the Constitution, while the Sector Committees were constituted in line with Articles 10(3)(8) and 14(5).
Standing committees
The Standing Committees comprise Finance, Electoral Affairs, Disciplinary, Policy, Organisational, Research, Communications, and a Political Strategy Committee.
The Finance Committee is chaired by Fred Oware, with Dr. Charles Dwamena as Secretary. Members include Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, and Amb. Edward Boateng, among others.
The Electoral Affairs Committee is chaired by Osei Bonsu Amoah, with Evans Nimako as Secretary. Members include Peter Mac Manu, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
The Disciplinary Committee is chaired by Kwasi Amoako Atta, with Elizabeth Utuka as Secretary, while the Policy Committee is chaired by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, with Dr. Kwasi Nyame-Baafi serving as Secretary.
Other committees include the Organisational Committee, chaired by Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, the Research Committee, chaired by Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, and the Communications Committee chaired by Nana Akomea, with Richard Ahiagbah as Secretary.
The Party has also established a Political Strategy Committee under the National Council, chaired by Peter Mac Manu.
Sector committees
The Party further announced the formation of Sector Committees spanning key areas of governance and national development.
These include Finance & Economy, Constitutional & Legal Affairs, Foreign Policy & Diaspora, Food & Agriculture, Education, Health, Trade, Industry & SMEs, Energy, ICT & Digital Economy, Tourism, Environment, Housing, Water and Sanitation, Roads, Transport, Security, Local Government, Gender, Youth Development, Sports, Employment, and Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Key figures appointed to these committees include Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Samuel Abu Jinapor, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Michael Okyere Baafi, alongside other MPs, former government officials, and professionals.
Each sector committee will be co-chaired by senior party members and supported by spokespersons and secretaries to coordinate policy development and stakeholder engagement.
Party’s position
The NPP stated that the reconstitution of the committees is part of its broader effort to reposition the Party, strengthen internal governance, and enhance policy coordination across all sectors.
It further noted that the committees will provide technical expertise, support strategic decision-making, and improve engagement with stakeholders at both national and sectoral levels.
The Party congratulated all appointed officials and expressed confidence in their ability to discharge their duties effectively in the interest of the Party and the nation.
