The Black Stars of Ghana have left for Libya to prepare for their critical TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Matchday 4 qualifier against Sudan.
This follows a 0-0 draw in their previous encounter with the Falcons of Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.
Pressure to win after home draw
Despite dominating much of the game, the Black Stars failed to secure their first victory in the qualifiers, leaving them third in Group F with just two points from three matches.
With Sudan in second place and Angola leading the group, Ghana’s chances of advancing hang in the balance.
Final preparations in Accra
Ahead of their trip to Benina, Libya, Otto Addo’s squad held their final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The team is scheduled to arrive in Libya and conduct their mandatory training at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14.
Must-win game in Libya
The Black Stars must defeat Sudan in the reverse fixture on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 13:00 GMT to boost their hopes of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
Ghana’s hopes of qualifying now hinge on this game against Sudan.
A win for Ghana would significantly enhance their chances as they look to secure one of the top spots in Group F.
However, victory for Sudan could boost their chances of securing second place in Group F.
