The battle for the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League title remains fierce as Asante Kotoko held onto their lead at the top of the table following a hard-fought 1-1 draw with FC Samartex 1996.
FC Samartex took the lead through Awuah Dramani, but in-form Kotoko striker Kwame Poku restored parity to ensure his side secured a crucial point.
With this result, Kotoko remain at the summit with 38 points, holding a slim one-point advantage over second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars.
Hearts suffer setback in title challenge
Arch-rivals Hearts of Oak failed to capitalize on Kotoko’s draw, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Dreams FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Abdul Razak’s early first-half goal proved decisive, lifting Dreams FC four points clear of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Hearts remain in fourth place with 36 points, missing a golden opportunity to close the gap on the league leaders.
Bibiani Gold Stars falter, Aduana Stars secure victory
Second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars lost ground in the title race after falling 2-0 to Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.
Kelvin Obeng was the hero for Aduana Stars, netting a first-half brace to secure back-to-back victories for the “Ogyaa Boys.”
The result pushed Aduana Stars to 11th place with 37 points, while Gold Stars remain a point behind Kotoko in second place.
Legon Cities continue resurgence
Legon Cities extended their fine form with a 2-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Mohammed Alidu and Kabu Raymond were on target for the “Royals,” while Stephen Amankona’s goal for Chelsea served only as a consolation.
The win marks Legon Cities’ third victory in five matches, boosting their position in the league standings.
