In a gesture of solidarity and encouragement, Otto Addo, Head Coach of the Black Stars, has embarked on a series of visits to injured players as part of his rebuilding process for the national team.
The coach’s initiative underscores his commitment to fostering team unity and morale, even amidst challenges.
Support for Alidu Seidu before surgery
On Monday, December 16, Coach Addo visited defender Alidu Seidu in France ahead of a crucial surgery.
The Stade Rennes right-back recently suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee during a French Ligue 1 match against LOSC.
The injury, sustained last month, has sidelined Seidu for several months, ruling him out of Ghana’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar in March.
Addo shared words of encouragement with Seidu, offering his full support as the player prepared for surgery.
The procedure was reportedly successful, paving the way for Seidu’s long journey toward recovery.
Focus on Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s rehabilitation
Coach Addo also extended his visit to Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who is undergoing rehabilitation following a serious knee injury that has sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Issahaku’s absence will be felt as Ghana prepares for its World Cup qualifiers in March. Addo’s visit aimed to motivate the young winger to remain positive and focused on his recovery.
Fit-again Jordan Ayew welcomed back
Another stop on Coach Addo’s itinerary was Leicester City forward Jordan Ayew, who has recently returned to fitness. Ayew had been out of action following an injury sustained during Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on November 16, 2024.
Now back with his club, Ayew’s return is a boost for both Leicester City and the Black Stars as he regains match fitness.
Building morale amid challenges
The visits by Coach Addo highlight his commitment to the well-being of his players, emphasizing the importance of psychological and emotional support during difficult times.
By maintaining strong relationships with his team, Addo is setting a tone of resilience and unity as the Black Stars navigate their rebuilding phase and prepare for key international fixtures.
These acts of solidarity not only strengthen the bond within the team but also send a message to the players and fans alike: the Black Stars remain united, both on and off the field, as they strive for success in future competitions.
