Apostle Kumi-Larbi : Put only persons with integrity in public offices

General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has emphasized the need to put persons with integrity in public offices.

He noted that it is time for leaders and ministers to clothe themselves with integrity as stated by Warren Buffet that ‘one needs to look for three things in a person: intelligence, energy, and integrity. If they do not have the last one, don’t even bother’.

He said that Christians who have their integrity intact are fit for purpose and are in a better position to turn things around in the nation.

The General Secretary said this at the maiden edition of the All-Ministers Conference held at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa-Fetteh in the Central Region.

The conference was held under the theme, “Rediscovering and fulfilling the purpose of the Church”.

The conference hosted over 3,000 church leaders from over 400 branches across the country, including ministers from other denominational churches.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi added that Christians are expected conform to the will of God while pastors must have their integrity intact.

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye also noted that there is no one denomination that is the exclusive channel of God’s grace.

He explained that the saints are equally distributed among all denominations, and that the degree to which God uses a fellow is determined not by the denomination in which he is located, but by the depth of his surrender to God, regardless of where he is.

He mentioned that, he doesn’t think God is really enthused about denominational distinctions.

Apostle Nyamekye added that varying denominations may be helpful because human beings differ, and some may have preferences for a particular style and mode of worship.

He also said that no one denomination has the truth and that the truth is in Christ, who is the truth.

“What we hold are truths about the Truth. We need then to pool our truths so that the sum total of our truth will nearly approximate the Truth. With this understanding, let us humbly open up to the Holy Spirit to receive from Him” he noted.

He noted that the theme for the conference is to help bring to the fore the understanding of the dual purpose or the dual identity of the Church.

Apostle Nyamekye indicated that the Church is called out of the world to belong to God and sent back to the world to witness and to serve His purpose among the nations.

“If the Church is able to rediscover its identity as originally given by God in the scriptures and made alive and relevant by the Spirit of God, we could be in the most exciting times in the history of the Church” he added.

The Apostle said that everything depends on the ability of Christians to understand the Church as it ought to be, the willingness to change where necessary, and the determination to keep the lives continually opened to spiritual freshness.

He stressed the need to focus on the purpose of the Church, to transform the nation with Kingdom values and principles.

He noted that the conference is not to help the ministers to make resolutions but to be stirred by the Spirit of God for action.

“It is my prayer that the Lord will give us fresh fire, fresh anointing, fresh understanding of brotherly love that is real and above all fresh understanding of the purpose of the Church, and leveraging on our numbers, take the nation captive for Christ,” he concluded.
