Mr Frank Afriyie, the Member of Parliament of Afadzato South, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Have-Aveyoyoe bridge in the Afadzato South District of the Volta Region.

The inspection followed lobbying efforts by the MP to get the deplorable bridge fixed after years of complaints from residents.

The bridge, which has been a major headache for residents, farmers, drivers and other road users for years, made movement very difficult, especially during the rainy season.

The structure, which connects Have to Have Aveyoyoe, had deteriorated over time, cutting off communities and affecting economic activities.

The bridge connecting Have to Have Aveyoyoe is currently under construction, with work progressing steadily on site.

The project, which was captured under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for 2026, is estimated at GH¢600,000.

When completed, the bridge is expected to ease movement and boost economic activities, particularly for farmers and traders who rely on the road to transport their produce.

Mr Afriyie, who was on site, assured the people of his commitment to continue lobbying until the project is fully completed and put to use.

He said the bridge and the poor nature of the entire stretch of road had been a major concern for constituents and remained a priority on his development agenda.

The MP said his office would continue to work closely with the District Assembly and other stakeholders to ensure the work is completed on schedule and to specification.

In addition to the bridge, the entire stretch of the Have-Aveyoyoe road is also undergoing reshaping to make it more motorable for vehicles and pedestrians.

The reshaping exercise is expected to improve access, reduce travel time and cut down the cost of transportation for residents.

Residents who interacted with the Ghana News Agency at the site expressed their joy and thanked Mr Frank Afriyie for his intervention and commitment to addressing their long-standing challenge.

They appealed for sustained maintenance of the road after completion to ensure it remains in good condition throughout the year.
