Aduana FC stunned Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-0 in their match-week four 2025-26 Ghana Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

The visitors who were reduced to 10-men later in the first half produced a disciplined defensive display to frustrate the Porcupine Warriors.

Aduana FC took the lead just five minutes into the match when Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim gifted the ball to Stephen Amankona inside the box, leaving the former Kotoko player with the easiest task of slotting it into the unguarded net.

The early setback prompted Kotoko to step up their attack, with the home side making their first dangerous incursion into the Aduana box around the 10th minute in search of the equaliser.

Emmanuel Mamah and Walid Fuseini led the attacking moves as Kotoko piled pressure on the visitors, but Aduana remained resolute and ensured that little space was available for the home side to exploit.

Aduana also relied on quick counter-attacks whenever Kotoko committed more players forward, creating occasional threats despite having less possession.

Kotoko received a major boost in the 42nd minute when Aduana defender Raymond Agyemang was sent off by referee Maxwell Hanson for a second bookable offence on Inusah Adam.

The numerical advantage further encouraged Kotoko to push forward, but Aduana reorganised quickly and defended in numbers to protect their lead.

Kotoko continued to dominate proceedings after the break, using their numerical advantage to dictate the pace and search for an early equaliser.

Coach Eric Tinkler introduced Eric Gbeta and Emmanuel Antwi for Walid Fuseini and Lord Hilary Adabo as he sought to strengthen the attack.

The substitutions, however, did little to change the pattern of the game as Aduana remained compact and disciplined, repelling Kotoko’s persistent attacks.

With 15 minutes remaining, Tinkler made further changes, bringing on Morifing Donzo and Opoku Agyemang for Richard Boadu and Inusah Adam to sharpen the attack.

Kotoko continued to spend much of the closing stages in Aduana’s half, probing from different angles for the equaliser, but the visitors held firm.

Aduana then delivered the final blow in the sixth minute of added time when Seidu Saana scored against the run of play to make it 2-0 and seal all three points for the visitors.

The victory moves Aduana Stars to third place on the league table, while Kotoko dropped to eighth after four matches.
