The MTN Y’ello Ladies Network, an all-female employee group of MTN Ghana, has marked its first anniversary with a renewed call to promote leadership, empowerment and inclusive growth among women within the organisation.

The celebration, brought together staff and industry leaders to reflect on the network’s impact over the past year and outline plans for the future.

Chairperson of the network Antoinette Kwofie said the initiative was established to create a platform for women to connect, grow and support one another in both their professional and personal lives.

“The network creates a space to connect, grow and lift one another. Over the past year, it has grown into a movement of impact and purpose,” she said.

She explained that the group had evolved into a vibrant community where members share experiences on professional development, personal growth and lifestyle interests.

According to her, the network had, within a year of its establishment, translated its vision into concrete action.

“Over the past year, we have transformed vision into action, creating open spaces for empowerment and opportunities that define the future we seek,” she stated.

She added that one of the major achievements of the network was a breast cancer awareness initiative which raised GH¢20,000 to support advocacy and education.

Beyond fundraising, she noted that the network had fostered meaningful connections among employees and contributed to positive change both within and outside the workplace.

“We have forged connections beyond the workplace and created genuine impact. I encourage members to be bold, intentional and take advantage of the opportunities available,” she said.

Looking ahead, she announced a series of programmes for 2026, including leadership development series, coaching circles, mentorship programmes and another breast cancer awareness drive.

“When women thrive, organisations thrive, and when organisations thrive, societies thrive. This anniversary is only the beginning of greater success,” she added.

Delivering the keynote address, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Brainwave Africa, Angela Kyeremanteng Jimoh, emphasised the importance of investing in people as a pathway to lasting impact.

“The greatest impact is not measured by what we hold, but by the lives we change and the opportunities we create,” she said.

She stressed that women across Africa were redefining leadership and making strides in business, science, technology and governance, despite challenges such as limited representation and societal expectations.

“Our greatest strength lies not just in individual excellence but in collective empowerment. Networks like this create spaces where women can learn from, support and grow with one another,” she noted.

She further described the anniversary as more than a celebration, calling it “a signal that organisations cannot build the future of work without fully including women in shaping it.”

The CEO of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett   also lauded the initiative, describing it as a reflection of the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Recalling the early discussions that led to the formation of the network, he said the outcome had exceeded expectations.

“I remember when the idea was first discussed. What has been achieved is far greater than I imagined. Today’s event is not just a corporate activity; it is a personal experience for me,” he said.

He commended the contributions of women within the organisation, noting that their role had been instrumental to the company’s performance.

“We have extremely strong women in our leadership team. The success of MTN is not by chance; it is the result of the contributions of passionate people across the organisation, particularly the women,” he added.
