Nations FC head coach Stephen Frimpong Manso says the club’s historic 2025/26 MTN FA Cup triumph has opened the door to greater ambitions, with the team now focused on making an impact in African club football.

The Abrankese-based side secured a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after regulation and extra time at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Despite suffering relegation from the Ghana Premier League after finishing 16th, Frimpong Manso believes the FA Cup success has given the club renewed hope and an opportunity to compete on the continental stage.

According to the coach, winning the trophy was also a way of rewarding the club’s management and loyal supporters after a difficult domestic campaign.

“We needed to compensate the management and also our fans. They were all determined for this game. We had to win it; otherwise, it would have been very bad for us,” he said after the final.

Frimpong Manso described the victory as a special achievement that helped ease the disappointment of relegation while providing a platform for the club to pursue greater success.

“It’s a great feeling. For me, it’s very good. It doesn’t matter what has happened,” he added.

The FA Cup triumph not only delivered the club’s first major trophy but also secured a return to continental football, where Nations FC will have the opportunity to test themselves against some of Africa’s top clubs.

Their victory earned them GH¢80,000 in prize money, as well as an additional GH¢100,000 to support preparations for their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

For Frimpong Manso, who guided Bibiani Gold Stars to the Ghana Premier League title and CAF Champions League qualification last season, the challenge now shifts from domestic disappointment to continental ambition.

With an African campaign on the horizon, Nations FC will be aiming to turn their FA Cup success into a springboard for greater achievements and write their name among the Ghanaian clubs that have excelled on the continental stage.
