Jackie Ankrah, other stars unveil peace anthem ahead of elections

Multitalented Ghanaian musician, broadcaster, and actress Jackie Ankrah has released a powerful new song titled ‘My Ghana, Your Ghana’.
This peace advocacy anthem showcases the vocal talents of prominent artists, including Cwesi Oteng, Perez Musik, Efe Grace, Mary Ghansah, Diana Hopeson, and Pastor Ella Somuah of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).
The project also features a remarkable coalition of seventeen influential figures from diverse fields, such as broadcaster Gifty Anti, actor Fred Amugi, and academic Professor Patience Abor, also known as Wegeiwor.
Joining them are media personalities like Kafui Dey and Fiifi Folson, and celebrated journalists Sulemana Braimah and Portia Gabor.
Sixteen children from Sap’s School in Teshie also lend their voices to the initiative, underscoring its inclusive and multigenerational vision.

A song of hope and unity
‘My Ghana, Your Ghana’ is more than just a song—it is a call for national harmony, togetherness, and pride.
Anchored in UNESCO’s principle that “wars begin in the minds of men,” the song seeks to inspire reflection and collective responsibility.
Jackie Ankrah, who holds a Master’s degree in Security Studies and frequently facilitates high-level security engagements, views this project as a labor of love and a strategic commitment to fostering peace.
The composition deliberately avoids the high-energy Jama rhythms often used in political songs, opting instead for a moderate tempo to encourage introspection.
Jackie notes that while protest and propaganda have their place in political communication, there is an urgent need for songs that promote consensus and reflection.

Relevant beyond the polls
Though launched ahead of Ghana’s December 2024 elections, ‘My Ghana, Your Ghana’ transcends electoral cycles.
It emphasizes the importance of continuous engagement, particularly with women and youth, in fostering peace.
By broadening the definition of stakeholders in national development, the song advocates for inclusivity and collaboration as keys to a better society.

A visual tribute to Ghana’s heritage
The accompanying music video, directed by Lesley Osei Kwame and shot by Boblinkin, is a cinematic masterpiece.
Filmed at Ghana’s iconic Independence Square, it captures the Roman Black Star Gate and the Unknown Warrior memorial with striking elegance.
The video reflects Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and the boundless nature of its artistic traditions.

A resounding reception
‘My Ghana, Your Ghana’ has been met with widespread goodwill and recognition.
The group was recently invited to perform at the signing of the Presidential Election Peace Pact 2024, an event that underscored its relevance and impact.

A beacon of peace and national pride
Jackie Ankrah’s ‘My Ghana, Your Ghana’ is a timely reminder of the values that bind Ghanaians as a people.
Through its harmonious blend of music, advocacy, and cultural pride, the song offers hope and inspiration at a critical juncture in the nation’s history.
It is a testament to the power of art to unite, heal, and inspire a better future.
