President John Dramani Mahama delivered an inspiring message to young Ghanaians as the country celebrated its 69th Independence Anniversary on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Jubilee House in Accra.

His remarks focused on affirming the role of youth in shaping Ghana’s future and the opportunities available to them in today’s digital age.

Addressing a vibrant crowd of students, entrepreneurs, and public officials, Mahama said, “I see you, I hear you, and I believe in your potential,” highlighting his confidence in the energy, creativity, and ingenuity of the younger generation.

Empowering youth through technology and innovation

The President emphasised that today’s youth have access to tools and opportunities that previous generations could scarcely imagine. He noted that technology, including smartphones and digital platforms, has transformed how young people learn, create, do business, and connect with the world.

“In your hands, a smartphone transforms into a classroom, a business platform, a creative studio, and a gateway to the global economy,” he said.

While acknowledging the challenges many young Ghanaians face, such as unemployment and economic uncertainty, Mahama stressed that efforts are being made to address these issues through investments in digital infrastructure, entrepreneurship programs, innovation hubs, and education reforms that align skills with the needs of the modern economy.

Call for focus, discipline, and excellence

Mahama encouraged youth to remain disciplined, determined, and prepared to harness the opportunities before them. He emphasised that success depends on resilience and a commitment to excellence in every field they pursue.

He also used the occasion to reflect on national unity, urging citizens to place the country’s interest above tribal, political, or personal concerns, and pledged that his administration would continue to serve with integrity and humility.
