Hearts coach Samuel Boadu, entire technical team sacked

Accra Hearts of Oak part ways with the entire technical team led by Coach Samuel Boadu with immediate effect.

The decision comes back on a poor string of results in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League and last season.

In the interim, Coach of the Under 20 team, Samuel Nii Noi will be assisted by Benjamin Mensah to take charge of the team until a substantive head coach is appointed.

The 37-year-old having signed a three-year deal midway through the 2020/21.

A statement from the Communication Directorate of Hearts said the club is of the opinion that there is the need for a new direction and the energy to ensure its broader objectives are achieved and feels the time for that new direction is now.

The Board and management thanked Boadu and his assistants for their contribution to the Club’s history and the memories which will always remain with the Club.

The Club wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours.

Hearts assured all fans that the club is taking the necessary steps including assistance from CVCA patners in the effort at restructuring the team.

The club failed to win any of its last five games last season losing 4 games and drawing 1.

Boadu is yet to lead Hearts of Oak to victory in the opening three games of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

He lost the opener against Aduana Stars in Dormaa before drawing against Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko respectively.

Boadu leaves with backroom staff which include his assistant Hamzah Obeng and goalkeeper’s trainer Eric Amponsah

Boadu won the Premier League, two FA Cups, and the Super Cup but failed in Africa.

However, Hearts of Oak will be representing the country in the 2022/23 CAF Confederations Cup.
