Ghana's Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Sanni Jajah
Alhaji Sanni Jajah, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has died in Jeddah after serving less than a year in office.
He died on Saturday evening, August 8, 2026, although the circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been disclosed.
The news was confirmed by his uncle, Yussif Issaka Jajah, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
In a Facebook post, the MP wrote: “With a heavy heart, I regret to inform you all that I have lost my nephew, Sani Jajah, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.”
He noted that the family would announce funeral and burial arrangements at the appropriate time.
President John Dramani Mahama appointed Alhaji Sanni Jajah as Ghana’s Deputy Head of Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 11, 2025. He was posted to the Ghanaian mission in Riyadh, where he worked closely with Ambassador Alhaji Said Sinare to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
His duties included providing consular support and safeguarding the interests of Ghanaians residing in Saudi Arabia. He also contributed significantly to preparations for Ghana’s participation in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage by coordinating with Ghanaian authorities, Saudi officials and pilgrimage organisers.
Following news of his passing, tributes have poured in from colleagues, relatives, political leaders and Ghanaians in Saudi Arabia, who have described him as a humble public servant devoted to diplomacy and the welfare of his fellow citizens.
