Businesswoman Angela List has firmly responded to recent accusations of corruption and deception published by several online news outlets.
The allegations, detailed in an article titled “Unveiling the Deception and Corruption of Ghanaian Businesswoman Angela List,” have been strongly refuted by Ms. List, who calls for a full retraction of the claims.
Firm denial of all allegations
In her statement, Ms. List categorically denied all accusations, describing them as inaccurate and a misrepresentation of her business practices.
She reiterated her commitment to ethical conduct and demanded that the news portals issue a retraction with the same prominence as the original article.
Allegations and rebuttals
The article alleged Ms. List’s involvement in an international corruption network, which she vehemently denies.
Emphasizing her adherence to laws and regulations in every country she operates, Ms. List refuted any involvement in corruption.
Further, the article accused Ms. List of receiving preferential treatment from the Liberian government and benefiting from her father’s political connections.
Ms. List attributes her success in Liberia’s mining industry to hard work, dedication, and her team’s expertise, noting that their established reputation predates the administration of former President George Oppong Weah.
Clarifications on BCM Group and business conduct
Ms. List addressed claims regarding her role with the BCM Group, clarifying that she continues to serve on a five-member Interim Management Committee appointed by the Commercial Court to oversee the company’s affairs.
She denied allegations of misconduct during her tenure and highlighted her role in securing numerous contracts across the region and in Jordan.
She also refuted accusations of transferring BCM Group assets to her own company without her former husband’s knowledge, insisting that all transactions were transparent and legally compliant.
Defending against additional allegations
Ms. List challenged the news portals to provide evidence supporting allegations of an arrest warrant and travel restrictions issued by Jordanian authorities.
She also denied claims of embezzlement, document fabrication, misappropriation of funds, and manipulation of corporate structures, maintaining her record of high ethical standards in business.
Moreover, Ms. List rejected allegations of exploiting personal relationships with former Liberian President George Weah and Ghanaian Minister John Peter Amewu for personal gain.
She attributed her success to her own merits and strict adherence to ethical practices.
Call for retraction and ethical journalism
In closing, Ms. List called on the news outlets to retract the false claims and underscored the importance of responsible journalism.
She stressed that baseless accusations not only harm individuals but also undermine the credibility of the media.
Ms. List’s robust defense against these allegations highlights her determination to maintain her professional integrity and commitment to ethical business practices.
