A 32-year-old ex-convict has been arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command for allegedly posing as a soldier and extorting money from unsuspecting residents in Ashaiman.

The suspect, Bright Atsu Kudiabor, was arrested by the Ashaiman Police at about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at “I Shall Return”.

Police said Kudiabor allegedly impersonated a member of the Ghana Armed Forces to deceive members of the public and obtain money from them.

He was reportedly first apprehended by Ghana National Fire Service personnel, with assistance from other individuals, and subsequently handed over to the Police.

Following his arrest, a search allegedly resulted in the recovery of a military camouflage uniform.

Kudiabor is currently in Police custody and assisting with investigations. He is expected to be processed for court once investigations are concluded.

The Police have urged the public to remain alert and report anyone suspected of falsely presenting themselves as soldiers or members of other security agencies for the purpose of deceiving or extorting money.

The warning was issued in a statement signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs of the Tema Regional Police Command.
