Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, has emphasised the need for the government to adopt blended finance models to attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) and support infrastructure development in Ghana.

Speaking at the 6th Ghana Investment and Trade Week and 3rd Africa Build Show, he urged the government to explore blended finance models to enhance Ghana’s infrastructure, citing the potential for significant investment and growth.

“When we invest in infrastructure, factories and development follows,” he stressed.

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, who also doubles as the paramount Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government, private sector, and traditional leaders in driving economic growth.

He also emphasised the need to empower Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), stating that they should not be seen as peripheral to the economy, but rather as vital contributors to growth and development.

The 6th Ghana Investment and Trade Week, which is on the theme “Construction prosperity, advancing industrial growth through smart infrastructure planning”, aims to promote investment and trade opportunities in Ghana’s infrastructural sector, with a focus on smart infrastructure planning and construction prosperity.

The Paramount Chief highlighted the role of traditional leaders as vital enablers of inclusive development, noting that their presence demonstrates a shared commitment to Ghana’s future. He encouraged the private sector to approach this era with confidence and innovation, and promised their support to the construction and build industry.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry (GhCCI), Emmanuel Cherry, on his part emphasized the need for collaboration and dialogue among industry stakeholders to drive economic growth and development. He highlighted the importance of working together to address challenges and opportunities in the construction industry.

“The time has come for us to interface among ourselves, to do business among ourselves within the diaspora.” – Cherry Emmanuel.

He remarked that the Africa Continental Free Trade Area present opportunities for the for the build industry and urged stakeholders to take advantage of it.

“How do we take advantage over the Africa Continental Free Trade? The business portfolios is very huge, but what are the opportunities? And what are the challenges?” – Cherry Emmanuel queried?

The event  organized by MIE Group brought together over 80 industry stakeholders, policymakers, and traditional leaders to discuss ways to advance industrial growth and development in Ghana.
