Weija plant fault disrupts water supply in Accra

The Management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced that the Weija Water Treatment Plant is currently experiencing technical challenges which have affected the production and distribution of water to several parts of western Accra.

According to the company, the situation has resulted in erratic water supply and low water pressure in affected communities.

The areas impacted include Dansoman, Mamprobi, Mataheko, Laterbiokorshie, Korle-Bu, La Paz, MacCarthy Hill, Gbawe, Mallam, Tesano, Darkuman, North Kaneshie, Dome, Achimota, Anyaa, Ablekuma, and surrounding communities.

GWCL assured the public that engineers and technical teams are working diligently to resolve the issue and restore the normal water supply as soon as possible.

Consumers have been advised to store water whenever supply is available in their communities to help mitigate the effects of the temporary disruption.

Essential service providers have also been encouraged to contact their respective Assembly Members or reach GWCL’s Call Centre for assistance via 0800 40 000 (Telecel lines only), or the following numbers for all networks: 0302218240, 0207385087, 0207385088, 0207385089, and 0207385090.

Management of GWCL has apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience caused and appealed for calm and cooperation as efforts continue to restore full operations at the Weija Plant.
