Stop leaking sensitive documents – Kan-Dapaah warns civil servants

The Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, delivered a stern reminder to civil servants regarding the importance of upholding integrity and professionalism in their roles during Civil Service Week celebrations.
Emphasizing the risks associated with leaking sensitive documents, engaging with external agents, and pursuing partisan agendas, Kan-Dapaah urged civil servants to prioritize the nation’s peace and progress above all else.
He highlighted the critical role of the civil service in ensuring value for money and addressing development gaps, describing it as the government’s “engine and powerhouse” for delivering public goods and services.
In a similar vein, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, Head of Civil Service, reaffirmed the Civil Service’s commitment to enhancing workforce capacity to drive the country’s socio-economic development.
He underscored the importance of efficiency and accountability within the Civil Service, emphasizing its role in achieving economic revival and implementing necessary reforms.
As part of the Civil Service Week festivities, awards were presented to outstanding civil servants, including Chief Directors and Directors, recognizing their dedication and contribution to public service. Among the awardees were Dr. Yaw Osei, Chief Director of the Works and Housing Ministry, Madam Wilhelmina Asamoah of the Energy Ministry, and Mr. Kizito Ballans of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, who were honored as the top-performing chief directors.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced the commencement of the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise, deploying necessary logistics and personnel to regional and district offices across the country.
With preparations underway for the 21-day registration period, Chairperson Jean Mensa assured the public of measures in place to mitigate disruptions caused by power outages, commonly known as “dumsor.”
Mrs. Mensa detailed contingency plans, including the rental of generators for district offices and the use of offline registration methods if necessary, to ensure the seamless continuation of voter registration services.
The voter registration exercise, scheduled from May 7 to May 27, 2024, aims to register approximately 623,000 first-time voters nationwide.
With the combined efforts of government officials, civil servants, and electoral authorities, Ghana remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring a transparent electoral process.
