President John Dramani Mahama has sparked conversation and admiration after a brief but telling moment with a security officer during a recent public appearance.

While addressing worshippers at the Good Friday Miracle Service organised by United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches at Black Star Square on Friday, April 4, 2026, where the President was a special guest, a uniformed soldier assigned to his protection remained standing close by, maintaining a vigilant posture.

Noticing that his Aide-de-Camp, Colonel Abdul Wahab Issah, was standing behind him in line with standard security protocol, President Mahama paused and calmly instructed the officer to sit, reassuring him with the words, “Oh, soldier, you can’t sit down. I’m very safe here. You sit down. Sit down, please.”

The soldier was, however, reluctant to heed to Mahama, but the President insisted, explaining to the audience that while the aide was simply performing his duty, he felt secure among the worshippers.

He said “He’s doing his job. He wants to protect me, but I’m telling him I’m with my family.”

The moment, though simple, drew attention from attendees and observers, many of whom interpreted it as a reflection of the President’s confidence in the environment and his consideration for those serving under him. It also highlighted a more human side of leadership—one that values empathy and mutual respect.
