Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has strongly denied allegations that she carried or fired a gun during a shooting incident at a property associated with her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, in Kwabenya.
Speaking privately with journalists while receiving medical attention following the incident, Adwoa Safo firmly rejected the claims, stating that she neither owns a firearm nor has any intention of using one.
“I don’t own a gun, I didn’t shoot a gun, and I will never shoot a gun,” she said, dismissing reports suggesting she played any role in the violence that erupted at the residence on June 21, 2026.
The incident, which has generated widespread public attention, is reportedly linked to ongoing disputes surrounding the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
Conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the circumstances that led to the confrontation, with various allegations circulating about the involvement of individuals connected to the dispute.
Addressing some of the claims, Adwoa Safo insisted that her presence at the property was solely for family reasons and had nothing to do with any attempt to provoke conflict. According to her, she visited the residence as a sister concerned about family matters and not as a participant in any confrontation.
She further emphasised that she arrived at the location alone and without any form of security escort, arguing that the issue was strictly a private family matter. Her comments were aimed at countering suggestions that she arrived with a group or with intentions that could have escalated tensions at the premises.
The former lawmaker also refuted reports alleging that she rammed her vehicle into the property’s gate before the shooting occurred. She challenged those claims, maintaining that her vehicle showed no evidence of a collision and that any damage sustained was consistent with the gunfire reported during the incident.
Adwoa Safo has therefore called for the facts surrounding the incident to be established and for misinformation to be avoided.
