Justin Kodua Frimpong, NPP General Secretary

Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dismissed rumours that the party is planning to change the leadership of its Minority Caucus in Parliament.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, Mr Kodua Frimpong stated that the party had not held any meeting or discussion regarding a change in its parliamentary leadership.

He said the NPP remained fully satisfied with the performance of the Minority leadership team headed by Mr Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu.

“We are overwhelmingly satisfied with the work being done by the leadership in Parliament led by Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin and will continue to give them the necessary support needed, together with our flagbearer, to win the elections in 2028,” Mr Kodua Frimpong assured.

The NPP General Secretary cautioned individuals spreading what he described as unfounded claims aimed at creating division within the party and its parliamentary caucus that they would not succeed.

He stressed that attempts to sow discord among the party’s leadership would not succeed, reaffirming the party’s commitment to unity and effective opposition to work in Parliament.

Mr Kodua Frimpong’s remarks follow widespread speculations that the NPP was considering changes to its leadership in Parliament, including plans to replace Mr Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader.

The rumours have generated discussions within political circles in recent days.

The dismissal of the rumours by the Party’s General Secretary is expected to quell the speculations and affirm confidence in its current parliamentary leadership.
