The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its regional executive elections today, Saturday, August 15, 2026, as part of its ongoing internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The exercise will allow delegates across the regions to elect executives who will oversee the party’s activities and strengthen its structures at the regional level.

The regional polls are part of a broader internal election process that began with elections at the polling station and constituency levels.

To ensure a smooth and credible exercise, the NPP has deployed national representatives to the various regions to supervise the elections and ensure compliance with the party’s approved electoral guidelines.

The party says the national representatives are expected to uphold transparency, fairness and accountability throughout the process. They are also required to submit reports on the conduct of the elections, including any incidents or irregularities recorded.

The NPP has further directed the various Regional Executive Elections Committees to maintain professionalism, discipline and order during the exercise.

Several aspirants are contesting positions including Regional Chairman, First and Second Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Nasara Coordinator.

The elections are expected to attract significant attention as the NPP works to rebuild and consolidate its grassroots structures following the 2024 general elections.

The outcome of the regional contests is also expected to shape the party’s organisation and mobilisation efforts as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Results from the various regional elections are expected to be announced after voting ends and ballots have been counted and collated.
