Netdecorations & Events modernises Ghana’s funeral culture

In Ghana, funerals are more than solemn farewells; they are grand cultural occasions that embody tradition, wealth, and community spirit.
Often surpassing weddings in scale and expense, funerals demand weeks of preparation as families work tirelessly to ensure a dignified send‑off.
Among the Akan, funerals are deeply tied to lineage, with the maternal family playing a central role in organising rites.
Beyond mourning, these ceremonies celebrate life and ensure safe passage into the ancestral world.
For affluent families, the pressure is even greater: a “befitting burial” is seen as a mark of respect, requiring elaborate logistics from caskets and tombs to music, food, and decorations.
This emotional and logistical burden has given rise to a new industry, professional funeral event planning.
Just like weddings or corporate events, funeral planners now design programmes tailored to the needs of bereaved families, ensuring ceremonies that are both dignified and memorable.
Birth of Netdecorations
One company at the forefront of this transformation is Netdecorations & Events, led by Antoinette Makafui Ashiadey and supported by Regina Amegah.
Their flagship Befitting Burial Package has eased the burden on grieving families by handling every detail of funeral services.

The inspiration came in 2021, when Antoinette lost her father. Though experienced in event décor for weddings and corporate functions, planning her father’s funeral revealed the immense challenges families face.
That personal journey became the foundation for Befitting Burials by Netdecorations.
“Following the passing of my father, I poured my heart into planning his funeral as a way of honouring his memory and coping with my grief. Through that journey, I recognised the need for professional and creative funeral styling services,” she recalls.
Impact and client satisfaction
Since its inception, Netdecorations has received glowing feedback for professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail, even under tight timelines.
Families commend the company’s ability to deliver quality services while providing comfort during emotionally difficult moments.
For Antoinette, the most rewarding aspect goes beyond business success.

“The smiles on the faces of satisfied clients have been deeply fulfilling. Beyond profit, the opportunity to help families celebrate the lives of their loved ones has made the journey worthwhile.”
Challenges and resilience
Like any venture, funeral planning comes with challenges: tight deadlines, coordinating multiple vendors, managing logistics, and balancing sensitivity with efficiency.
Yet, Antoinette believes these hurdles have strengthened the team’s adaptability and commitment to excellence.
