Staff of MobileMoney Fintech LTD (MMFL), the newly restructured mobile money subsidiary of MTN Ghana, have embarked on a health and wellness initiative aimed at promoting fitness and strengthening teamwork among employees.

The exercise, dubbed the “MMFL Staff Wellness Walk,” saw more than 80 staff participate in an 8-kilometre trek from Ayi Mensah through the mountainous terrain to Peduase Lodge.

The early morning walk was marked by high energy and enthusiasm, with a lively brass band accompanying participants along the route and boosting morale.

The event culminated at Peduase Lodge with an intensive aerobics session, bringing the fitness activity to an energetic close as staff engaged in coordinated exercises designed to improve endurance and overall wellbeing.

The wellness walk forms part of MMFL’s broader efforts to encourage a healthy lifestyle among its workforce while fostering unity and collaboration within the organisation.

The initiative also reflects the company’s recognition of the link between employee wellbeing and productivity.

MMFL was officially rebranded from MobileMoney Limited (MML) on March 31, 2026, following its transition into a standalone entity.

The company now operates independently of MTN’s core telecommunications business and is responsible for delivering all MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) services.

The restructuring is aimed at accelerating fintech growth while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

Speaking to journalists after the aerobics session, the Head of Human Resource at MMFL, Dzifa Romano Mensah, explained that the initiative was designed to empower staff to deliver efficient and high-quality services to customers.

She noted that maintaining physical fitness and mental wellbeing was essential to enhancing performance across the organisation.

“This is not just about keeping us healthy but also ensuring that we are performing and delivering when it comes to our business,” she said.

Mrs Mensah further highlighted the importance of teamwork, noting that the shared experience had strengthened bonds among staff.

“It’s been definitely worth it and amazing. Not just the walking, but supporting each other because our strengths are different, and that’s the power of teamwork. We are also a family because MMFL brings us all together,” she added.

She disclosed that similar wellness activities are planned for later in the year as part of efforts to sustain employee engagement and drive superior customer service.

The initiative underscores MMFL’s commitment to building a resilient workforce capable of supporting its ambitions in Ghana’s rapidly evolving fintech landscape.
