Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has hinted that he could consider contesting the parliamentary seat in Ablekuma South if the right conditions are met.

The outspoken musician made the statement in an interview on Accra-based Asempa FM, stressing that he is ready to step into politics if it will help bring development and better representation to the people.

According to Shatta Wale, many communities in Ghana need strong voices that genuinely care about the welfare of residents, and he believes he could contribute meaningfully if given the opportunity.

He indicated that although music remains his primary focus, he would not rule out the possibility of entering politics in the future.

He said “I love Ghana so much. If the people of Ablekuma call me, I will definitely go. But I won’t say because I have money now, I’m coming to contest. When they call, I will go, but as an independent candidate.

“Ghana is a funny country. Sometimes when you decide to do something, that is when you have some people with talks here and there. But I believe at the right time [things will fall in place].”

The award-winning artiste noted that his experiences working with young people and engaging with communities have helped him understand some of the challenges residents face, including unemployment and lack of opportunities.

Shatta Wale added that if he ever decides to run for office, his goal would be to advocate for youth empowerment, job creation and improved living conditions.

He explained that he often draws inspiration from films and recently reflected on leadership after watching a series about Moses.

“Sometimes when I watch movies, I learn a lot from them. Recently, I was watching The Book of Moses on Netflix and I saw how stubborn Moses was when God was asking him to go back to Egypt,” he stated.

Shatta Wale said the moment reminded him that leadership should sometimes come in response to a call from the people.

“I feel when the people call for it, I can stand out boldly. But I don’t want to come out myself and feel like I’m entering people’s business. When the people want it, that is when I can come out,” he noted.

His comments have already sparked conversations among fans and political observers, with many debating whether the popular musician could successfully transition from entertainment to politics.

Over the years, several entertainers across the world have ventured into politics, using their influence and popularity to pursue public office.

For now, Shatta Wale continues to focus on his music career, but his remarks suggest that a future in politics may not be entirely off the table.
