Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has expressed confidence that her performance in office merits recognition as the country’s Best Regional Minister, citing her administration’s commitment to development, sanitation, security, and improved public services across the region.

She defended her recognition as “Best Regional Minister” for 2026 by “Big Events Ghana” with its “Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours,” 6th Edition.

Ocloo highlighted several initiatives undertaken under her leadership, emphasising that the Greater Accra Region has witnessed significant progress in key sectors. According to her, the achievements recorded so far are a result of collaboration between government agencies, local authorities, traditional leaders, and residents.

Referencing an article by the Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte, who stated that “real honour is service, not paid recognition,” Linda Ocloo, in a radio interview with Accra-based Asaase Radio, suggested that the SIGA boss’s remarks were influenced by a political rivalry between the two in the Shai Osudoku constituency.

“I have defeated Kpessa-Whyte four consecutive times, and so if Kpessa-Whyte thought at a point that because I was recognised, he want to tarnish… are you telling me that Ato Forson who received the award gave an amount before he received it, Armah Kofi Buah, did he pay for it before he was recognised, Ruth Sedoh from National Service, did she pay for it and other dignataries…

“Mr dear, we shouldn’t entertain such, I don’t want to use the words on him, but please spare me this, I have gone through a lot… I’m stressed, I don’t want to discuss anything about Kpessa-Whyte, if he had personal issues, he should deal with the institutions not me,” she stated.

The minister pointed to ongoing efforts to address sanitation challenges, improve road infrastructure, strengthen security, and enhance coordination among metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies. She noted that these initiatives have contributed to making the region cleaner, safer, and more conducive for business and investment.

Ocloo also acknowledged the support of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration and stakeholders who have partnered with the regional coordinating council to implement various development projects.

She stressed that while recognition is appreciated, her primary goal remains serving the people and ensuring sustainable development across the region.
