GJA unveils new digital gateway for media community

Albert Dwumfour, GJA President

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has unveiled a new official website as part of efforts to modernise its operations, improve communication and provide journalists and the public with easier access to official information.

The website, gjaghana.com, was unveiled by GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The Association described the platform as its new “digital home”, saying it would serve as a central hub for information on its programmes, activities, policies, advocacy initiatives and other matters concerning the media industry.

According to the GJA, the platform will feature official statements and press releases, training opportunities, events, membership-related information, media development initiatives, journalist safety and press freedom advocacy, among other resources.

The Association said the website would also provide development partners, government institutions, diplomatic missions, civil society organisations and members of the public with direct access to information about the GJA and its activities.

The launch comes amid what the Association described as an ongoing digital transformation of its operations.

The GJA said the increasing importance of digital platforms in communication and public engagement made it necessary for its online presence to reflect the professionalism, credibility and dynamism of Ghana’s journalism community.

“We encourage all journalists, GJA members and media practitioners across the country to visit www.gjaghana.com, familiarise themselves with the platform and make it a regular source of official information from the Association,” the GJA said.

The Association added that the website would be continuously developed and updated to ensure that it remained responsive to the needs of its members.

The new platform will also host the online entry portal for the 30th GJA Media Awards, which opened on September 3 and closes on September 18, 2026.

The GJA said the new website represented another step towards building a more connected, accessible, transparent and digitally responsive professional body for journalists.

It further urged members to engage actively with the platform and use it as a primary source of verified information from the Association.
