The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has reaffirmed Ghana’s ambition to transform its economy and emerge as West Africa’s leading manufacturing hub, marking a renewed policy direction under President John Dramani Mahama.

Addressing participants at the third Kwahu Business Forum held at the Kwahu Convention Centre, Debrah underscored the government’s determination to transition from a production-based economy to one driven by manufacturing and value addition.

He noted that achieving this vision will demand a decisive shift in economic mindset, supported by targeted policies that create an enabling environment for businesses. According to him, deeper collaboration between the state and private sector will be essential to unlocking Ghana’s full industrial capacity.

He further criticised the persistent limitations of the “Guggisberg economy”, urging stakeholders to replace rhetoric with concrete action.

He encouraged policymakers, investors and entrepreneurs to focus on building industries capable of creating jobs, expanding exports and strengthening the country’s economic foundation.

“Let this Forum send a powerful message from the hills of Kwahu to every corner of Ghana: that we are ready to build, ready to produce, ready to lead, and ready to uplift others as we rise.”
