A legal team representing Freddie Blay is set to challenge a recent remand order issued against him at the Koforidua High Court, citing concerns over due process and the basis of the decision.

According to sources close to the defence, the move forms part of a broader legal strategy aimed at overturning the order, which directed that Blay be held pending further proceedings.

His lawyers argued that the remand ruling was not only excessive but also inconsistent with established legal standards governing pre-trial detention.

Freddie Blay was remanded on Monday, March 16, 2026, after appearing before the Akropong Circuit Court in connection with a dispute over a parcel of land at Kitase in the Eastern Region.

The case reportedly stems from a complaint lodged with the police by an individual claiming ownership of the land, who alleged unlawful activity on the property.

Following the complaint, the police invited Blay to assist with the investigation. However, the situation escalated, leading to his arrest and subsequent appearance before the court.

After considering preliminary details, the court ordered that he be remanded pending further investigation.

His lawyer, Gregory Asiedu, described the development as unfortunate, indicating that the legal team believes the decision to remand their client was not justified under the circumstances.

According to him, they are confident that a higher court will review the matter and grant appropriate relief.

Speaking after the proceedings, Asiedu said the legal team had already begun preparations to challenge the ruling.

“The appeal will be filed at the High Court in Koforidua,” he stated, explaining that they intend to seek a review of the remand order and request bail for their client.
