An industrial fire has engulfed a factory and adjoining warehouse at Prampram in the Greater Accra Region, triggering a large-scale emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service. The Chinese-owned facility has reportedly been reduced to ashes.

Firefighters from multiple stations, including Prampram, Devtraco, Ashaiman, and the Tema Regional Headquarters, were swiftly deployed to the scene to battle the inferno. Their coordinated response reflects the scale and intensity of the fire, which has required significant manpower and resources to contain.

Although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, emergency crews have been working relentlessly to prevent it from spreading to nearby structures and causing further destruction. Thick plumes of smoke and intense heat have made firefighting efforts challenging, but personnel continue to push forward in a bid to bring the situation under control.

The GNFS Tema Region has also dispatched additional fire tenders to support the ongoing operation. These reinforcements are aimed at strengthening containment efforts and accelerating the response to the late afternoon blaze, which broke out on Friday, May 1, 2026.

As of 7:00 p.m., firefighters were intensifying their operations, focusing on suppressing the flames and securing the area to protect lives and property. Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation once the fire is fully contained to determine its cause and assess the extent of the damage.
