An East Legon-based businessman has reportedly been arrested by police over allegations that he drugged and secretly filmed several women under disturbing circumstances.

The 36-year-old businessman was picked up by the Cybercrime Unit of the CID in a joint operation with the Bureau of National Investigations over alleged sexual exploitation and cybercrime offences.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the suspect allegedly drugged women, sexually assaulted them, recorded explicit videos without their consent and shared the footage through a Telegram platform identified as “VIP Sleep Fetish 2025”.

Police said the suspect has already been arraigned before the court and remanded pending further investigations.

Addressing journalists in Accra on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, CID Director-General Lydia Yaako Donkor explained that the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on May 6 by the CID Cybercrime Unit and the BNI.

Investigators believe the suspect targeted women at nightclubs in Accra, where he allegedly drugged victims before assaulting and filming them while they were incapacitated.

A search at the suspect’s residence reportedly uncovered several electronic devices, including mobile phones, a laptop, storage devices and substances suspected to be Xanax and Versed pills.

Police say all retrieved devices are undergoing forensic examination, while the suspected substances will be analysed by the Food and Drugs Authority.

The CID has appealed to the public to report suspected cases of online sexual exploitation and cyber-related crimes to law enforcement authorities.
