Dr Duffour announces bid to lead NDC into 2024

Former Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffuor has announced his intention to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2024 elections.

Dr Duffuor officially announced his intention to contest the flagbearership race of the party when nominations open.

Making the announcement in Accra yesterday, the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and owner of the defunct uniBank Ghana Limited said he was ready to lead the NDC to election 2024 and would be contesting the presidential race in the party.

“I officially announce my intention to contest for the Flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress anytime the party opens nominations,” Dr Duffuor said.

The former Finance Minister who touted the successes and accomplishments he had chalked both in public and private life, pledged his readiness to offer himself once again, “to serve the land of my birth with humility and sacrifice when given the chance to do so.”

Dr Duffuor further announced he would in the next few weeks, embark on a national tour of the country to explain what he had christened ‘The Ghanaian Dream.

“I will meet with my fellow brothers and sisters to speak about our issues, speak about our lives, speak about our needs and speak about our dreams as citizens. I look forward to having those conversations and to explain the dream to them,” he said

The Former BoG Governor rallied all Ghanaians to “stand up and let us lift our country to soar again in the sky like the eagle that she is. As an Eagle, Ghana’s natural place is the Sky.

“Let us fight to save our ailing economy to the benefit of our children and generations yet unborn.

“Let us rescue our economy to end the hardship, pain and suffering of our fellow citizens. We are a great Nation and we have the capacity to rebuild our economy again as we did during 2009 –2012.”

Dr Duffuor served as Minister of Finance under the late President John Evans Atta Mills from 2009 and later under President John Mahama to 2013.
