Ridge Church School pupils donate to 3 organisations

Pupils from the Roman Ridge Church School in Accra have made donations to three organisations as part of their 2022 annual harvest and outreach programme.

The beneficiary institutions include the Children’s Department of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital formerly Ridge Hospital, Klicks Africa Foundation and Akropong School for the Blind.

The pupils donated items such as canned foods, bread, bags of rice, beverages, biscuits, cartons of bottled water, tubers of yam, cooking oil, tins of milk, fruits, drinking cups, hampers and detergents.

The donation ceremony which was held at the Ridge Church auditorium was organised under the theme; ‘Great is thy faithfulness with scripture reference from Psalm 136:1.

The event culminated in a church service attended by pupils, staff, parents and representatives of organisations, specifically selected as recipients of the various items.

The service featured songs, recitals and scripture readings by members of the school community as well as wonderful renditions by the school choir.

Headmistress of the school, Mrs Nana Ama Acheampong Badasu indicated that the exercise was to inculcate in the children the habit of sharing and giving to their neighbours, particularly the less-privileged, which is one of the precepts of Christianity.

She said it was also an opportunity to give the pupils the opportunity to express their gratitude to God, for His faithfulness throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in a more practical way.

“We do this every year and it has caught on well with the parents and their children. The lessons drawn from the exercise are good. It is also an occasion that we thank God for His mercies and how far He has brought us as a school,” she added.

She thanked the parents for always supporting them in diverse ways to reach out to the beneficiary institutions.

The Founder of Klicks Africa Foundation, Mary Tuffuor, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the parents through their pupils for the kind gesture.

“It takes grace and commitment to squeeze yourself during these times to still give out to us. We are most grateful,” she said.

She advised the pupils to embrace person’s living with Disability at all times.

“Don’t laugh at people with disability; you may not understand what they go through. Sometimes we turn to give excuses for children that you don’t understand but that shouldn’t be the case. Embrace those living with Disability,” she noted.
