New Marian Grotto inaugurated at Korle-Gonno

The faith community of Korle-Gonno, along with Marian devotees in Accra, now have a sacred space dedicated to meditation, prayer, and spiritual renewal following the commissioning of the Grotto of St. Mary the Virgin.
Situated on the grounds of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church near Korle-Bu, this serene sanctuary is set to become a beacon of religious devotion in the city.
The newly constructed Grotto, which cost over GH₵50,000 to build, was formally commissioned on Saturday, February 1, 2025, by the Diocesan Bishop of Accra, the Rt. Rev. Daniel S.M. Torto.
The event attracted several notable dignitaries, including the Most Rev. Robert Okine (Emeritus), Archbishop of the Province of West Africa.
Patron of the Guild of St. Mary the Virgin, Korle-Gonno branch, Mrs. Monica Evans-Quayson, urged the faithful—especially Marian devotees—to make use of the Grotto as a spiritual retreat.
She encouraged them to pray the Rosary and bring their supplications before the Blessed Virgin Mary for intercession.
Ahead of the dedication, Rt. Rev. Daniel S.M. Torto met briefly with parishioners inside the church, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support in bringing the project to fruition.
He commended their dedication and urged them to maintain their fervor in faith. The Bishop extended his blessings to all who contributed to the realization of the Marian Grotto.
Following the meeting, the congregation processed to the Grotto, where the commissioning ceremony culminated in the solemn recitation of the Angelus, marking the space as a place of grace and spiritual reflection.
The event was chaired by Mr. Andrew Quayson, a devout Roman Catholic, who emphasized the importance of such spaces in fostering religious devotion and community solidarity.
The commissioning of the Grotto of St. Mary the Virgin stands as a testament to the unwavering faith and commitment of the Korle-Gonno Christian community.
