MTN Ghana has once again brought smiles to the faces of new mothers by distributing hampers to babies born on Christmas Day in selected health facilities across all 16 regions of Ghana.
This annual initiative, which exemplifies MTN’s spirit of giving and community care, took place simultaneously in 30 health facilities nationwide.
The hampers, thoughtfully curated, contained essential items for newborns, including clothing, detergents, toys, blankets, and personal care items.
The distribution exercise is a hallmark of MTN’s commitment to celebrating life and supporting families during the festive season.
Regional breakdown of hamper distribution
Greater Accra-140
The Greater Accra Region led this year’s efforts, with 140 hampers handed out at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Central -60
In the Central Region, 60 hampers were distributed across facilities including Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Trauma Specialist Hospital, Bawjiase Polyclinic, and Mother and Child Clinic in Kasoa.
Ashanti -55
The Ashanti Region followed closely with 55 hampers shared at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Western -40
Regarding the Western Region, Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Essikado Hospital benefitted from 40 hampers.
Eastern -35
The Eastern Regional Hospital at Koforidua received 35 hampers.
Volta -30
In the Volta Region, new mothers at the Ho Teaching Hospital, Ho Municipal Hospital, and Adidome Hospital received 30 hampers.
Bono -30
In the Bono Region, Sunyani Teaching Hospital and Holy Family Hospital at Berekum received 30 hampers.
North East-30
New mothers at Nalerigu and Walewale Hospitals in the North East also received 30 hampers.
Northern -30
In the Northern Region, Tamale Teaching Hospital and Saboba Government Hospital benefitted from 30 hampers.
Upper East -30
For the Upper East Region, Bolga Regional Hospital and Navrongo War Memorial Hospital received 30 hampers.
Upper West -30
The Wa Municipal Hospital and Jirapa Hospital in the Upper West benefitted from 30 hampers.
Bono East-20
In the Bono East Region, Holy Family Hospital at Techiman and Kintampo Municipal Hospital received 20 hampers.
Ahafo-20
Goaso Municipal Hospital and Bechem Hospital in the Ahafo Region received 20 hampers.
Savanna-20
Damongo and Salaga Hospitals in the Savanna Region were presented with 20 hampers.
Western North-15, Oti-15
Wiawso Government Hospital in the Western North Region received 15 hampers, and Dambai Regional Hospital in the Oti Region also received 15 hampers.
A decade of impactful giving
Launched in 2011, MTN’s Baby Hamper Distribution project has grown to become a significant tradition, allowing MTN staff to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of families with newborns during Christmas.
Since its inception, the initiative has reached over 3,500 families, with this year’s event further cementing its legacy of care and compassion.
