First Atlantic Bank has renovated an existing 6-unit classroom block and built an additional six unit classroom blocks for the Abua D/A Primary School in the Pru West District of the Bono East Region.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the two classroom blocks will help the over 500 pupils and staff of the school who were learning and teaching under very harsh conditions before the intervention of First Atlantic Bank.
Facilities
The project which was fully funded by the First Atlantic Bank included washrooms, furniture, teaching boards, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) room and a staff common room to address the infrastructure needs of the school.
Speaking at a durbar to commission the buildings, Board Chairman of First Atlantic Bank, Mr Amarquaye Amar reiterated the bank’s CSR mandate supports education and health needs of children and women.
He said the school blocks would create more conducive teaching and learning environment for education at the primary school level.
He explained that the Bank is proud to put in place a key building block towards accomplishment of its objective through the renovation, modernization, and expansion of facilities at the Abua D/A Primary School.
Deputy Manager of Bono Regional branch of Bank of Ghana (BoG) Mr Nurudeen Yussif Musah, read the speech of Governor of BoG, Dr Ernest Addison.
Dr Addison highly commended the joint effort and commitment of the community leadership together with the staunch support of First Atlantic Bank towards improving the lives of the youth, through the provision of good infrastructure and facilities in the Abua Community.
He congratulated the management of First Atlantic Bank, staff of Abua D/A Primary School and the community whose spirit of cooperation contributed towards the project for the benefit of the children.
President of Prang Traditional Council
Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, the President of Prang Traditional Council who was the Chairman of the occasion in his remarks applauded the efforts of First Atlantic Bank for such a wonderful gift to the Abua community.
He further called on the bank and its allies to shift attention to Pru West District to support their developmental agenda.
Atlantic Lounge at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital
The Abua D/A Primary School project is the fourth major CSR project after the Atlantic Lounge, a modern and comfortable waiting area for family and friends of patients on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra in 2021.
Mother and Baby unit at Talensi District Hospital
The Bank in December 2018 similarly donated a fully-equipped Mother and Baby unit to the Talensi District Hospital in Tongo, in the Upper East Region.
Classroom for Cape Coast School for the Deaf
In 2019, the Bank donated a fully furnished and equipped classroom block to the unit for the Blind at the Cape Coast School for the Deaf.
