Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed his condolences to the Church of Pentecost and the family of the late Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy, former Chairperson of the Church of Pentecost, who passed away on December 27, 2023.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Bawumia praised Apostle Ntumy as “God’s Chosen General” and acknowledged his impact on humanity.
The post read: “I have received with sadness the news of the passing of Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost 1998-2008.
Apostle Dr. Michael Ntumy impacted humanity and deserved the accolade ‘God’s Chosen General.’ My wife Samira Bawumia and I extend our sincere condolences to the immediate family and the Church of Pentecost. May the soul of the selfless man rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
Apostle Dr. Ntumy, who served as the Chairperson of the Church of Pentecost from 1998 to 2008, passed away at the age of 65.
The Church of Pentecost leadership announced his death in a statement, describing him as a revered man of God and an inspirational leader.
The statement highlighted his commitment to spreading God’s word and his significant contributions to the church and community.
Apostle Ntumy’s journey in ministry began at the age of 26, and he later became an Apostle at age 33.
He served as the Chairperson of the Church of Pentecost for two terms, totaling 10 years.
Despite facing various trials, including being held hostage during the Liberian Civil War and surviving physical assaults and poisoning, Apostle Ntumy continued his dedicated service to the church.
The Church of Pentecost called on the public to pray for the widow and the bereaved family and requested utmost respect for their privacy during this challenging time.
Apostle Dr. Michael Ntumy is survived by his widow and six adult children. Born on September 22, 1958, in Dadieso in the Oti Region, his legacy as a spiritual leader and inspirational figure lives on.
