A team of Aflao GIS officers on patrol duties at Beat 6 of the Aflao border have been attacked and injured by yet-to-be-identified persons
The patrol team was pelted with stones, resulting in serious injuries for three members of the Immigration team who are currently receiving treatment at the Ketu South Municipal Hospital under stiff security.
Management of the Ghana Immigration Service expressed displeasure about the incident which occurred around 11:25pm Friday night.

A release issued by the Service explained that the attackers were dispersed by warning shots from the patrol team ahead of the arrival of a reinforcement team of Immigration Officers.
It said one bystander however sustained injuries from a gunshot and is currently responding to treatment.
“We condemn the attack in no uncertain terms and advise border residents of Aflao, commuters and citizens, in general, to consider border officials as people working ultimately for the safety of our motherland.
“While we appreciate the cooperation and support from border residents and citizens as a whole, these attacks on Officers by some members of the public must stop immediately,” it said.
Management of GIS stated that it will continue to keep a close eye on the situation at Aflao, and all necessary mechanisms will be deployed to keep border security uncompromised.
The Management called on all Officers, especially at the Aflao Sector Command, to remain resolute and not be deterred by the unfortunate incident.
Three officers of GIS, stationed at Bawku, were last Monday evening shot by some unknown assailants at about 8:15pm on Monday, April 3, 2023.
The incident left one person dead, while the other two sustained serious injuries and are now receiving treatment at the hospital.
The deceased, identified as Assistant Inspector Philip Motey, stationed at the Missiga post, and two other colleagues, were shot by the gunmen in front of the Bawku Police Station around 8p.m., while they were in a private car.
According to information gathered, the gunmen who were lurking in the shadows, surfaced and shot into the vehicle and bolted immediately.
Motey was in the company of Assistant Inspector Lawrence Afari, stationed at Kulungugu post, and Assistant Inspector Eric Ayidiya, who is also stationed at the Polimakom border post.
An officer of GIS in the Upper West Region, Assistant Immigration Control Officer, (AICO) Michael Otu, was shot dead by unknown assailants suspected to be smugglers at Kokoligo a village located between Nandom and Hamile.
The deceased, who was a member of the Operation Conquest Fist at the HamileDetachment, and was scheduled for night duty, suffered six gunshot wounds at his back, leading to his death.
