3 journalists honoured at maiden TIMEA Awards

Three journalists have been recognized for their exceptional reporting on telecommunications and technology at the inaugural Technology Industry Media Excellence Awards (TIMEA).
The awards were instituted by the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) and the Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) Chamber of Ghana to celebrate excellence in journalism within the industry.

Winners shine across key categories
Suleiman Mustapha of the Graphic Communications Group Limited emerged as the best reporter in the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) (Print and Online) category.
Ms. Rosemond Akuorkor Adjetey from the EIB Network won the award for the EMIs Broadcast (TV and Radio) category, while her colleague, Ivan Heathcote-Fumador, also from the EIB Network, was recognized in the Broadcast sub-category under the EMIs category.

Awards and recognition
Each winner received a brand-new laptop and a citation certificate in recognition of their contributions to promoting understanding and awareness of issues within the telecommunications and technology sectors.
There were no awards for three other categories because the judges concluded that the entries were not good enough to win the awards.

Promoting excellence in telecom journalism
The TIMEA awards aim to foster excellence in reporting, with a focus on key aspects of the industry, including tower companies, mobile network operators, fibre infrastructure companies, original equipment manufacturers, and electronic money issuers.
Open to Ghanaian journalists from accredited media houses, independent journalists, and online platforms/bloggers, the awards celebrate impactful storytelling that sheds light on industry challenges and innovations.

A commitment to quality reporting
By recognizing outstanding work in telecom and technology journalism, the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications and the EMIs Chamber of Ghana hope to inspire higher standards of reporting in these critical sectors, ultimately benefiting the nation’s digital and economic growth.
