The Eastern South Regional Police Command has restored calm to the New Station Area in Akyem Oda following a violent machete clash involving a group of young men. The disturbing incident, which was captured in a viral video circulating on social media, showed several individuals openly attacking one another with cutlasses, causing panic among residents in the area.
According to a police statement issued on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, officers swiftly responded after receiving information about the incident. Police personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene to bring the situation under control and prevent further violence.
Investigations later led officers to two suspects who were receiving medical treatment at different health facilities in the municipality.
One of the suspects, 30-year-old George Okyere, was found at the emergency ward of the Oda Jubilee Hospital suffering from a deep cut on his forehead and the loss of one of his right fingers, which had reportedly been chopped off during the confrontation.
Another suspect, identified as Paul Pascalele, was located at the emergency ward of the Akyem Oda Government Hospital with a serious cut wound on his right hand.
Meanwhile, police also arrested a third suspect, Evans Adayele, at his hideout. He is currently assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries into the violent incident.
The police further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other individuals connected to the clash for further investigations and possible prosecution. The statement was signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Command.
