The Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) has formally admitted 586 new students into its academic community, with a call on them to embrace lifelong learning, innovation and critical thinking in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The students were matriculated at a ceremony held at the university’s Knowledge City Campus at Kokomlemle in Accra on June 13, 2026.

The new entrants are pursuing programmes in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety Management, Project Management and doctoral studies.

Addressing the matriculants, AIT President, Professor Clement K. Dzidonu, congratulated them on gaining admission and urged them to prepare for what he described as “The Age of the Sovereign Learner,” where success would depend on the ability to think independently, adapt continuously and leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

He noted that universities must go beyond awarding degrees to producing graduates who are capable of solving problems creatively, thinking critically and contributing meaningfully to society.

Prof. Dzidonu said AIT remained committed to producing graduates who are technically competent, ethically grounded, intellectually curious and globally competitive.

Speaking on the theme, “Preparing the Sovereign Learner for a World of Opportunity, Possibility and Difference,” he encouraged students to adopt the Opportunity–Possibility–Difference (OPD) perspective by identifying opportunities, exploring possibilities and making positive impacts in their communities.

He urged them to focus not only on academic qualifications but also on building character, capability and courage, stressing that success would depend largely on their personal commitment to excellence and self-development.

The AIT President further advised students to attend lectures regularly, manage their time effectively, uphold ethical standards and cultivate a culture of lifelong learning.

Delivering the matriculants’ acceptance speech, Mr Samuel Peace Kamara thanked the university’s management, faculty and staff for the warm reception accorded the new students.

He pledged, on behalf of his colleagues, to uphold the values of the institution, pursue academic excellence and develop into responsible professionals capable of contributing to national development.

The ceremony concluded with the formal admission of the students into the university community and a call on them to take advantage of the opportunities available to excel academically and professionally.

AIT is a technology-focused private university accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through both campus-based and Open University modes.

The institution has received several national and international recognitions, including awards for excellence in technology-focused higher education.
