Former Ghana international Godwin Attram has joined the Black Stars’ technical team as an assistant coach, following an appointment by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Attram takes over from Desmond Ofei, who will now concentrate fully on his responsibilities as head coach of Ghana’s U-23 national team, the Black Meteors.

The former Black Stars midfielder brings a blend of international playing experience and coaching knowledge to the senior national team setup.

During his playing career, Attram featured for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven and Danish side Silkeborg IF. He later moved into coaching, taking charge of Accra Great Olympics and working with Ghana’s national youth teams.

The GFA said the appointment is aimed at strengthening the Black Stars’ technical structure as Ghana prepares for a busy international schedule, including the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

Attram’s arrival follows the announcement of a 21-man squad by Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz for the team’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.

Ghana will begin the campaign with a difficult trip to Bouaké, where the Black Stars are scheduled to face Côte d’Ivoire on September 24, 2026.

They will return home five days later to host The Gambia in Accra on September 29.

The Black Stars will round off the current international assignment with a friendly against Morocco in Tangier on October 4, 2026.

Attram’s addition gives Queiroz another experienced figure on the technical bench as Ghana prepares for the upcoming qualifiers and other international commitments.
