One of Ghana’s leading transport operators, VIP Jeoun Transport Company, has announced an increase in transport fares across its routes nationwide, effective Tuesday, April 8.

The company said the decision follows a review of rising operational costs, including fuel prices, vehicle maintenance, and spare parts, which have placed significant pressure on transport operators in recent months. Management indicated that the adjustment is necessary to sustain operations and maintain service quality for passengers.

Under the revised fares, passengers travelling on standard services will pay GH¢120 from Accra to Kumasi, GH¢170 to Sunyani and GH¢290 to Tamale, among others. Fares to northern destinations such as Bolgatanga and Wa have been set at GH¢330 and GH¢320, respectively.

Executive coach services have also seen upward adjustments, with fares from Accra to Kumasi increased to GH¢150, Sunyani to GH¢200, and Tamale to GH¢360.

Longer-distance routes such as Accra to Navrongo and Bawku will now cost GH¢420 and GH¢430, respectively.

The company also announced revised intercity fares from Kumasi, including GH¢210 from Kumasi to Tamale and GH¢250 to Bolgatanga.

VIP Jeoun said the new fare structure was approved by management and applies across all its operational routes.

Passengers across the country are expected to feel the impact immediately, with some commuters expressing concerns over the additional financial burden.

Others, however, acknowledge the challenges faced by transport operators, noting that fare adjustments have become inevitable given the steady rise in fuel prices.

Commuters are advised to check updated fare lists at terminals before embarking on their journeys to avoid any inconvenience.
