GhanaWeb, Ghana’s leading and most widely read online news platform, has announced the appointment of multiple award-winning broadcast journalist and media executive Patrice Amegashie as its new Commercial Manager, a move widely seen within the industry as a strategic boost to the company’s commercial expansion and brand positioning.
With more than two decades of experience across broadcasting, corporate communications, business development, and brand management, Patrice Amegashie brings to GhanaWeb a rare blend of editorial credibility and commercial acumen.
His appointment comes at a time when GhanaWeb is deepening its footprint across digital advertising, branded content, events, and strategic partnerships, amid growing competition in Ghana’s fast-evolving media and digital economy.
Industry observers say his background uniquely positions him to bridge content, audience engagement, and revenue growth—an increasingly critical requirement for digital media sustainability.
Patrice Amegashie is widely recognised as one of Ghana’s most versatile and influential broadcast journalists.
He rose to national prominence as co-host of the flagship morning television programme “This Morning” on Viasat 1, alongside Kokui Selormey.
The show, which blended current affairs, lifestyle, and entertainment, redefined morning television in Ghana and earned strong ratings, critical acclaim, and a loyal following both locally and internationally.
Over the years, his television career spanned leading stations including Viasat 1 and TV Africa, where he served not only as an on-air talent but also in senior leadership roles such as Head of Programmes.
His work helped shape modern, interactive morning TV formats in Ghana, introducing dynamic audience engagement, topical discussions, and commercially viable programming models.
Before his television success, Patrice built a solid foundation in radio at Radio Gold, where he worked as a Morning Show Host and presenter of diverse music genres ranging from African music, Calypso, Soca, Reggae, and Funk.
His tenure at Radio Gold later expanded into corporate leadership, serving as Human Resource and Corporate Affairs Manager, further strengthening his understanding of organisational management, talent development, and corporate strategy.
His career trajectory reflects a consistent ability to combine editorial excellence with business insight—an asset GhanaWeb is expected to leverage in strengthening advertiser confidence, expanding revenue streams, and deepening relationships with corporate partners.
Patrice Amegashie has worked with and managed campaigns for some of Ghana’s and Africa’s most respected brands, including MTN, UT Bank, Telecel, UBA, Access Bank, Goldkey Properties, Buena Vista Homes, CompuGhana, LG, CHIGO, Ethiopian Airlines, Aviance, Lakeside Estates, and Telefonika, among others.
His extensive brand portfolio underscores a proven capacity to deliver value at the intersection of media, marketing, and consumer engagement.
Beyond broadcasting, he is an accomplished Master of Ceremony, having hosted major local and international events, including UNCTAD XII, the Michael Power initiative, and Coca-Cola CSR projects.
He was also a partner in organising the National Sports Journalists’ Awards, one of Ghana’s most prominent sports media recognition platforms, where award winners received prizes including automobiles—highlighting his experience in high-value event execution and sponsorship mobilisation.
His international media production work further sets him apart. Patrice produced programmes that documented the lives, careers, and challenges of Ghanaian footballers abroad, taking him and his team to the United States and Europe, with recordings at iconic venues such as Wembley Stadium, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield, and Bolton Wanderers.
These productions strengthened Ghanaian sports storytelling and demonstrated his capacity to deliver premium content with global appeal.
Patrice Amegashie’s contributions to Ghana’s media industry have earned him multiple awards, including two wins as Television Morning Show Host of the Year and two awards for Best Morning Show Programme at the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards.
He has also been consistently listed among Ghana’s top broadcast journalists in industry rankings.
Known for his warm, engaging on-screen presence and deep understanding of audience behaviour, Patrice blends serious current affairs with lifestyle and light entertainment seamlessly—an approach that aligns closely with GhanaWeb’s broad and diverse digital audience.
His appointment as Commercial Manager signals GhanaWeb’s intention to consolidate its market leadership by pairing strong editorial influence with sophisticated commercial strategy.
With digital advertising increasingly driven by data, content innovation, and audience trust, Patrice’s experience across programming, brand partnerships, and business development is expected to play a central role in shaping GhanaWeb’s next phase of growth.
Stakeholders believe Amegashie’s leadership will help unlock new opportunities, strengthen revenue diversification, and reinforce the platform’s reputation as Ghana’s most credible and commercially agile online media brand as GhanaWeb continues to evolve beyond news publishing into a full-scale digital media and advertising powerhouse
