A former Deputy Minister for Education, Reverend. John Ntim Fordjour has called for the rethinking of the current state of education in the country to match the rest of the world.

He explained that although the country’s education was good, there was a need for the nation to strive to be among the best education systems in the world, not just the best for the African continent.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour made the call when he spoke as the Special Guest at the 5th anniversary, speech, and prize-giving day of the Primus Hybrid School at Ledzokuku Municipality in the Greater Accra region on Saturday.

The event brought together people from all walks of life, such as politicians, the clergy, traditional leaders, civil society organisations, parents, and old students, among others.

Do not politicise education

He challenged the government not to do politics with the nation’s education by ensuring that all initiatives of the previous government, which promoted quality education development, were continued for the good of the country.

The former Minister, who is the Member of Parliament for Assin South in the Central region, praised the management of the school for the feat chalked within the five years, although not a long period.

He explained that the school’s achievements and goals set were testaments that the private sector played a very critical role in the development of every country and should be supported to achieve its goals.

Commendation

Mr Seth Adu Annorson, A Deputy Director of Education at the Ledzokuku Municipal Directorate of Education, who was the Guest Speaker, described the theme for the event, “A beacon of excellence: 5 years of impacting and transforming lives,” as apt since the school’s achievement within the five years was marvelous.

“In a span of five short years, Primus moved from creche to Junior High level and transformed ordinary classrooms into launch pads for bigger dreams. You have equipped children with confidence, morality, skills, and values that shaped leaders”. He said.

Mr Annorson challenged the leadership of the school not to be complacent with the strides made within the five years, but rather be committed to even greater heights through innovation and the provision of modern learning equipment.

Appreciation

The Director of the School, Mr Yaw Owusu-Brempong, in a short remark, thanked all stakeholders who have contributed in diverse ways towards the successes chalked within the five years.

He assured all that he would continue to innovate and promote standards that not only prepare the learners to pass their examinations but also prepare them for life, so they can cope wherever they might find themselves after their education across the globe.

The occasion was used to present awards to deserving students, staff, and others for their various contributions towards the school’s five years of existence.
