An intelligence-led operation by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, has resulted in the arrest of 48 suspected cybercrime operatives at Dawhenya in the Greater Accra Region.

The National Security–coordinated operation was carried out on Tuesday night, December 23, 2025, following actionable intelligence gathered in the Dawhenya area, leading to the arrest of the cybercrime suspects.

According to the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, preliminary interrogation indicates that the suspects are believed to be Nigerian nationals. He disclosed that those arrested comprise 46 males and two females.

The minister stated that the suspects are linked to several cyber-related criminal activities, including romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illicit online gold trading.

Security operatives retrieved many items during the operation, including 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers.

Commenting on the arrests, the minister said: “We are committed to carrying out intelligence-led surgical strikes against these crime syndicates to ensure that we rid our cyber ecosystem of these criminals. Ghana welcomes everyone interested in legitimate enterprise. We will remain a hostile domain for cyber criminals. I commend the operatives who carried out this operation with the professionalism for which our security services are globally recognised. Their service is celebrated. I wish all a merry digital Christmas and a cybercrime-free new year.”

He shared the statement in a post following the operation
