Some executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nanton District of the Northern Region have called on President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss the District Chief Executive (DCE), Abdul Rahaman Rosina, accusing her of incompetence and actions that undermine the party’s credibility.

Addressing the press in Nanton on Monday, December 1, 2025, the constituency executives argued that the continued stay of the DCE in office threatens the party’s electoral prospects in the district and the government led by Mahama.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mohammed Sharif alleged that the DCE had diverted farming inputs meant for vulnerable farmers under a major government agricultural support initiative.

He alleged that “The government intervention, such as the Savannah Agriculture Value Chain Development Project, is meant to support farmers and reduce poverty. However, we have credible reports that about 600 bags of subsidised fertiliser allocated to the district were diverted and sold to private retailers under the direction of the DCE.”

Sharif added that the alleged diversion has severely damaged the trust of farmers, a constituency he described as essential to the party’s strength.

“This act is a betrayal of the trust of our farmers. It is a departure from the NDC’s principles of accountability and an act of corruption that has angered the very people who stood with the party in difficult times,” he said.

The executives have therefore appealed to President Mahama to intervene urgently and appoint a new DCE—someone they believe can rebuild confidence and advance the party’s objectives in the district.
