Mobile Money LTD (MoMo), a subsidiary of MTN Ghana, has applauded the 2025 champions of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) for their outstanding performance, describing their triumph as a testament to excellence and the promise of Ghana’s scientific future.

The company sponsored the 2025 NSMQ Regional Championships and the Money Zone segment of the National Championship.

The team paid a courtesy call on the management of MobileMoney LTD, where the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shaibu Haruna, praised the students for upholding a competition he described as more than a quiz, but a national symbol of brilliance, discipline, and youthful ambition.

Shaibu commended Prime Time Limited, organisers of the NSMQ, for consistently delivering a world-class competition that continues to inspire students across the country.

“The National Science and Maths Quiz is more than just a quiz event. The spirit behind it, the exhibition of excellence, and the challenge it presents to our youth are all deeply inspiring.

Every young person, regardless of school, aspires to take part in this wonderful event,” he said.

He emphasised that the competition aligns strongly with the work of Mobile Money Limited, noting that financial technology is rooted in science, mathematics, engineering and innovation.

“At the core of what we do in mobile money is financial technology. And the engine that drives fintech is science and technology. That is why nurturing such talent matters to us,” he added.

Highlighting the school’s legacy, he revealed that both the Chief Technology Officer of MoMo and the Chief Information Officer of MTN Ghana are alumni of the winning school, underscoring the institution’s longstanding contribution to national development.

Shaibu extended his congratulations not only to the contestants but also to the teachers, mentors and Old Students Association whose support, he said, was instrumental in the victory.

“There is an even bigger team behind your win. Your teachers, mentors, and old boys have played silent yet powerful roles in guiding you to this achievement. We are very proud of our association with you.”

He encouraged the students to relish their moment of triumph and continue striving toward careers that will shape Ghana’s technological and scientific landscape.

The visit formed part of the team’s post-victory engagements with corporate bodies that support the NSMQ and the advancement of STEM education in Ghana.

Associate Client Service Director at Prime Time, Samuel Narte Ajor, expressed satisfaction with the progress and success of the partnership between his outfit and Mobile Money Limited.

He recounted earlier planning sessions and praised the fruitful collaboration that helped deliver yet another successful edition of the NSMQ.

“It’s been an interesting journey, and I believe a very successful one. When we began discussions in this very room, we were confident that we would achieve what we set out to do.

We are pleased that all we put together has led to this moment of success,” he said.

Samuel Ajor stressed that the sustained impact of the NSMQ would not have been possible without corporate support.

“Without support from systems like MoMo, we wouldn’t have reached this point. We are very pleased and happy, and we believe there are more exciting years ahead through this collaboration,” he added.

Chief Commercial Operating Officer, Abdul Razak Issaka Ali, highlighted the significance of MTN’s involvement, noting that the platform aligns with the company’s commitment to advancing financial inclusion and youth education.

He explained that sponsoring the initiative was an easy decision—not only because of the event’s scale, but also because of MTN’s responsibility to support young people and educational development in Ghana.

He further pointed out that the initiative was a natural fit for the MoMo Zone, making the collaboration even more meaningful.

The triumphant team from Mfantsipim School expressed joy after securing the championship title.

The students, who represented the school in the competition, shared heartfelt reflections on their victory and their hopes for the future.

They also expressed gratitude to Prime Time for providing a platform that continues to shape and showcase academic excellence.

They noted that opportunities like these motivate them to push harder in their studies and personal development.
