Mr Dominic Hlordzi was elected General Secretary, obtaining 443 votes against his opponent, Mr Akwasi Agyeman, who received 247 votes.

The position of Organising Secretary went to Mr Suleiman Mustapha, who polled 365 votes, surpassing Mr Maxwell Kudekor who attained 321 votes.

Mrs Bertha Badu-Agyei was elected Treasurer with 401 votes, defeating her challenger, Ms Theodora Ametedor Yakanu, who secured 287 votes.

Mr Zadok Kwame Gyesi won the Public Affairs position with 431 votes, beating Mr Caesar Abagali who polled 253 votes.

In his victory speech, Mr Dwumfour expressed gratitude to members of the Association for the confidence reposed in him for a second term.

He remarked that his victory was not a personal achievement, but one for the Association and its entire membership.

He stated that he was committed to working collaboratively for the advancement of the GJA.

“It is a victory for every journalist who believes in the power of truth, who strives for excellence, and who champions the cause of the free and responsible press in Ghana.

“It is a testament to our collective vision for a stronger, more vibrant, and more impactful GJA,” he added.

Mr Dwumfour indicated that his second term would focus on consolidating the gains made, learning from past challenges, and advancing the Association’s impact.

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the welfare, safety, and professional development of journalists, and pledged to continue advocating for improved working conditions, enhanced press freedom, and increased protection for all media practitioners.

“To combat impunity against journalists, ensuring that those who attack or threaten our members are brought to justice, creating a freer media environment for all.

“We will continue to hold power accountable, to be the voice of the voiceless, and to provide accurate, balanced, and insightful information that empowers you to make informed decisions,” he added.
