From fatal transportation mishaps to industrial tragedies, the incidents remind us of the fragile line between routine life and sudden catastrophe.
Below is a summary of the most notable and heartbreaking events that unfolded during the week.
1. Actor Kwame Borga reportedly involved in ghastly accident
Kumawood actor Kendrick Osei Kwame, popularly called Kwame Borga, has been involved in a harrowing car accident that has sent shockwaves through his fan base.
The distressing footage that surfaced on social media on June 16, 2025, depicted the actor’s once-pristine blue Toyota, now mangled and heavily damaged, a stark testament to the severity of the collision.
The unfortunate incident reportedly took place as Kwame Borga was en route to a highly anticipated meeting with the Ashanti Regional Minister in the bustling city of Kumasi.
The details surrounding the crash remain murky, and concerns are mounting over the actor’s well-being, as updates on his condition have yet to be confirmed.
2. Mother and her 3 children die in road accident
A mother and her 3 children tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the Dambai-Asukawkaw highway in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.
The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, between the communities of Abongo and Nwane. It involved a private Nissan vehicle and a Kia Rhino container truck.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the Kia Rhino attempted to swerve around a pothole on his lane but veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision with the Nissan. The impact was fatal, instantly killing the mother and her 3 children—one boy and two girls.
The Nissan driver sustained a broken arm along with other serious injuries. The Kia Rhino driver and his mate were also critically injured. All injured persons were quickly transported to the Worawora Government Hospital for emergency treatment.
3. 2 persons die in accident on Mankessim-Accra highway
Two persons are said to have died in an accident on the Mankessim-Accra highway on June 20, 2025.
The personnel of the Mankessim Command of the Ghana National Fire Service said they responded to a distress call at 09:16hrs at Ekumfi Essam on the Mankessim-Accra Highway.
“A tanker truck with registration number GT 5408-22 travelling from Mankessim to Accra collided with a Toyota with registration number GB 4146-22 heading in the opposite direction,” the personnel said.
“When GNFS arrived at the scene at 0926hrs, the crew extricated two casualties from the mangled Toyota, who were reported dead at the hospital. Their bodies have since been deposited at the Roman Hospital Morgue in Mankessim,” the fire officers said.

4. 19-year-old dead in accident on Cape-Coast-Takoradi road
An accident that occurred on June 19 on the Cape Coast-Takoradi 19-year-old has claimed the life of a 19-year-old.
The accident resulted from a tipper truck loaded with sand ramming into three stationary vehicles waiting to make a U-turn.
A detailed police statement on the accident stated that on June 19, 2025, at at about 12:48 hrs, the suspect driver, Bright Essel, aged 29, was in charge of a Donfeng tipper truck with registration number GN 5710-19, loaded with sand from Bronyibima towards the DVLA junction, Cape Coast.
On reaching a section of the road at the University of Cape Coast West Gate on the main Cape Coast-Takoradi-Accra Highway, he veered off his lane and ran over the kerb and in the process crashed into a stationary Nissan Sentra saloon car with registration number CR 1756-12 driven by suspect Kofi Kum, aged 57; Honda CRV 4×4 with registration number CR 319-20 driven by suspect Anita Ansah, aged 37 and an Apsonic motor tricycle with registration number not yet known ridden by suspect George Ayensu Peters, aged 26, who were observing traffic from the near-side section of the road to join the highway.
As a result, all the vehicles, together with the tricycle, got damaged. Suspect drivers Anita Ansah and Kofi Kum, together with the rider and victims Charles Ayensu Peters, aged 47, Prince Anamag Baidoo, aged 27 and Wilfred Awusi Ninson, aged 19, sustained injuries and were rushed to the University of Cape Coast hospital for treatment, but the 19-year-old Wilfred Awusi Ninson was pronounced dead by the medical officer on duty.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the same hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.

5. Timber truck loses control and kills woman in accident at Bibiani
A fatal accident at Bibiani in the Western North Region has claimed the life of a woman after a timber-laden articulated truck lost control and overturned.
The crash occurred along the Goaso–Bibiani highway, near the Bibiani Old Town road diversion.
According to eyewitness accounts, the truck—a Man Diesel with registration number AS 3047-17—was travelling from Goaso towards Kumasi, carrying large quantities of 4×4 and 4×2 timber.
While negotiating a bend, the truck reportedly became unstable, causing the head of the vehicle to detach from its trailer.
The trailer, weighed down by timber logs, overturned and fell onto a bystander—a woman believed to be in her early 40s—killing her instantly.
6. Woman killed by truck at Bortianor bus stop
An accident at the Bortianor Bus Stop on Friday, June 20, 2025, has led to the death of one person.
The victim, a woman, was attempting to cross the highway when she was run over by a long vehicle with registration number WR 1475-13.
According to an eyewitness, the driver of the truck veered off the main road in an attempt to avoid hitting other vehicles that had stopped to allow pedestrians to cross. In the process, the truck ran over the woman, who was standing on the median.
7. One dead, five critically injured in road crash in Cape Coast
One person died, and five people were critically injured in a multi-vehicle crash at the East Gate of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) along the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The accident involved a tipper truck with the registration number GN 5701–19, a Honda CR-V registered as CR 329–20, a red Nissan Sentra with the number CR 1756–12, and a tricycle (Pragya) registered as M-20–CR 1262.
Information from the Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has it that the fatal crash was caused by the tipper truck driver, who was driving carelessly.
CCTV footage that has been released captured the moment the tipper truck wiped the cars off the UCC East Gate intersection at 12:48 hours.
The two cars and the Pragya were biding their time at the intersection to join the main road when the truck suddenly emerged from nowhere and ran them over.
The victims of the accident, five males and a female, were rescued by eyewitnesses and transported to the UCC Hospital, where one male was confirmed dead.
The deceased was a passenger in the Nissan Sentra, which was the first to be crashed.
The rest are, however, responding to treatment.
ADO1 Ebenezer Fiifi Dadzie, the Deputy Regional PRO, confirming the incident indicated that they received a call about the accident at 13:02 hours and got there at 13:09 hours.
But all the victims had already been rescued and rushed to the hospital when they arrived at the scene.
He explained that preliminary investigations suggested that the tipper truck driver, through careless driving, caused the accident.
